Tenja is a producer rooted in sound system culture, whose productions are shaped by years spent on the microphone as a vocalist and MC. Tenja brings a vocalist’s instinct for space, rhythm, and message into the studio, crafting heavyweight roots and steppers dUb riddims built for sound system pressure, clarity, and impact.
Born and raised in South Paris and now based in the UK, Tenja’s musical journey spans decades and disciplines, from early work in hip hop and ragga to vibing the stage alongside the talents of Manudigital, Dreadsquad, Dubmatix, The Freefall Collective, RSD, Radikal Guru, Countryman Sound, Sinai Sound, Roots Soup Sound, Bristol Dub Club, Rebel Lion, and Apex Hi-Fi, amongst many others. Adding to his accolades, Tenja was the lead singer of Dubheart, the renowned UK roots reggae band.
Alongside his studio work, Tenja maintains a close relationship with sound systems across the UK and Europe, regularly testing and refining his productions in live sessions.
Working under the production alias Tenja in Dub, his sound is defined by militant basslines, disciplined arrangements, and an instinctive understanding of how music moves through a sound system. Each production is built with the dance in mind, minimal, direct, and heavy using space, delay, and FX as tools of impact rather than decoration.
Tenja’s productions have gained support from respected sound systems including OBF, Sinai Sound, and Iration Steppas, cementing his reputation as a producer whose work translates powerfully in real sound system environments. His catalogue of releases under Tenja in Dub reflects a consistent focus on roots principles combined with modern steppers energy.
